Dear Zoe,
Our family had wanted to have a dog for many years and when we finally made the decision, we purchased a dog through the Internet and a breeder in the U.S. It was an entire day of driving several hundred miles to pick up our new dog. This experience was a very difficult and painful one for our family and after much time and effort it became clear that our dog could never be what we had hoped for.
After numerous emails and correspondence with a woman from Eastern Washington, we were repeatedly reassured that she was a legitimate breeder and in looking back, we should have done more research. We trusted that what she was telling us was the truth. From the time we brought him home, we had serious behaviour issues with our dog. We immediately contacted her and she was surprised to hear of this type of behavior. After several trips to the vet, it was apparent that our dog had some obvious issues that a breeder would/should have known about. Two separate vets with over thirty years of experience had not seen this type of aggression from a puppy before and consequently told us to give him up because of his aggressive nature. We realized that it wasn’t going to work out given our situation with our children.
The breeder then refused to take the dog back, which we found very odd, as most of the breeders we spoke to were genuinely concerned about the well being of their animals. We had to take our dog to a rescue and cover all of the expenses. Overall, a very negative experience for our entire family and our children were devastated that it didn’t work out.
When we met Zoe things were different right from the start. We were encouraged to come and see her dogs and spend an afternoon with them. We picked the one we wanted and it was clear that Zoe was genuinely concerned about these animals. When we brought our dog home, it was a complete opposite experience. Since we met Zoe and purchased a dog from her, she has been in contact with us checking up on our dog to see how she is doing.
Our dog Lily has been a blessing to us. She provides our children with much joy and is a positive addition to our family. Everyone who meets her comments about her sweet and gentle nature. Zoe, through her love for her dogs and her attention to detail, helped to create for us a wonderful experience after we thought we weren’t going to ever have a dog. We thank Zoe for everything that she has done for us and would highly recommend her to any friend of ours who is looking for a puppy.

Hershey the F1b Bernedoodle out of Hazel
Vern now Hershey is our very first Teddies Healing Hearts donated puppy. Hershey was donated to a very special family who is going through some terribly sad circumstances and little Sophie had been inconsolable. Sweet Hershey has made her life so much better by being her very own emotional support pup. Good boy Hershey, we knew you were meant for big things!!

Another wonderful update on 10 month old Hershey
1 year update on Hershey
Hershey has been nothing but amazing! He is learning more and more every day! He is a 51-pound lap dog who loves to try and join me while I am working.
Hershey is still the laid-back, easygoing puppy he has always been, though he seems to be getting a bit more energy! He knows our routines and is ready at the door to take the kids to school and reminds me at 3 o'clock everyday that he would like to go pick them up, even though we usually don't go until 4! Those are the only two times he does not like me leaving the house without him.
I have said it so many times, but he is exactly the dog you said he was going to be and has been absolutely amazing for our family.

1 year update on Charlee the bernedoodle
Hi Zoe,
So many awesome/positive things to say about our girl Charlee 😊🐾. She’s been an absolute joy to have in our life. Being retired we can dedicate alot of time for training, exercise, grooming etc, and as you know it takes a considerable amount of time but the reward of an amazing, well rounded dog is paying off. She’s currently 42 pounds and has been for the last month so I suspect she is full grown.
Charlee is super friendly with people and dogs. She’s confident and not scared with traffic, loud noises or fireworks. She loves her walks in the neighborhood but is happiest off leash on the trails and even better if there’s snow. She also loves being on the boat and swimming. We’ve well socialized her with other pups and has a few BFF’s in the neighborhood. She definately gets over excited when seeing her friends and we’re currently working on that. We’ve tried a couple of different trainers over the last 10 months and she has done extremely well with basic - intermediate commands and we’re currently working on heal walking and she’s doing great. We can now walk comfortably around the neighborhood without pulling! She loves to learn, do tricks and of course the treat rewards! She definately has a stubborn streak but I think that comes with the territory (poodle) 😆.
Charlee is pretty active and busy in the daytime but shuts down from about 9:30 pm - 9:00 am!
She has a very thick, wavy coat as Zoe predicted. The fur is soft and doesn’t shed at all. I do all of Charlee’s grooming including toe nails. Zoe exposed the pups to early grooming and as soon as she was home with us, I continued grooming of some sort on a daily basis. As a result, she is quite tolerant of all aspects of it including walking right into the shower without a fuss.
Initially Charlee had some separation anxiety when we tried to leave the house. After some advice from Zoe, patience and practice, Charlee is fine being left alone for a few hours now.
So to sum it up, Charlee’s been an absolute delight to have in our lives and we just love her to bits! Keep up the amazing work you do!
